The Grotto Trail lays inside the Malibu Canyons. The hike is a fun, 3.5-mile trail that supposedly leads you to a 20-foot waterfall which flows into a hidden cave. I found this trail by accident and didn’t know the waterfall existed, but I did find the rocks that lay on top of it. The hike is full of luscious flowers and green scenery in the spring, but I imagine it’s just as fun year-round.
What to Wear
Hiking gear. You’ll get the chance to rock-climb.
Where to Park
Drive to the Circle X Ranch Ranger Station and park by the camp at the bottom. You can reach this by driving down Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu and then turning onto Yerba Buena Road. You’ll likely lose service once you get up to the park so make sure you screenshot the map or have one handy in case you get lost.
Happy hiking!
