It was another beautiful day in Southern California and my roommate and I decided to treat ourselves with money we didn’t have to look good for people who didn’t care about us.
But it’s LA.
We got into the nail salon and while getting a pretty incredible massage during pedicures, the most beautiful two women walked in. Skin flawless, big hats too oversized for their heads obviously and their hair – long, shiny and just enough of a cute 2-day curl hangover you see in movies.
More beautiful than the way they looked, I was mesmerized with their stories.
Everyone in LA ages backwards. I’m not kidding.
It’s like a giant playground for adults who journey through life to find the best version of themselves as they find their truest and most fulfilled selves.
And these 30-somethings were no different.
So what kind of advice did these Goddesses provide?
-
You don’t need to feel the pressure of having kids if you don’t want to, damn what your midwest family says.
-
Settling down sounds like a lot more work than settling into life the way you design it.
-
Having a good girls night is not overrated and sleeping in and continuing drinking is just as well.
-
Stay in touch with your friends and don’t lose sight of who you are.
-
Arguably the most important advice: Don’t hurry through life.
Take your time to live and live well. Time will go by and so will traffic and any good and bad things that may happen in life. Everything happens as it’s supposed to and the more you lean into the things that work for you in the way that works for you, the more aligned you will be to your best self.
This includes good hair, good skin products and good style.
Thank you, ladies. I still think about you more than I probably should.
