Runyon Canyon is arguably the most famous hike in LA. Known for its spectacular views of Griffith Observatory and DTLA, the most popular moderate 2-mile loop will make you feel like you’re on top of the world while also giving you a great glute workout.
The park is usually filled with people, so the best time to go is early morning or during the night – I promise that both are worth it. Even better? Go the day after it rains and you’ll be able to see the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Monica Mountains.
What to Wear
Workout gear, hiking shoes, and water. Though the trail is incredibly popular and well-kept, it’s still a trail that’s steep in certain parts, rocky in others, and a workout all around. Protect your feet and body by preparing yourself for a good sweat. You’ll still look cute in sweats.
Parking & Access
The best way to access Runyon Canyon is through the main entrance at the top of Fuller Avenue. You can park on Vista or any nearby streets, just make sure you carefully read the street signs so you don’t get ticketed. I recommend going up the stairs first and down on the road (you’ll know what I mean when you get there).
Happy hiking!
